World Press Photo 2025 – Save the date

World Press Photo is back in 2025 to once again celebrate the very best of press photography across the globe

The highly anticipated World Press Photo 2025 exhibition is set to showcase the finest in global press and documentary photography, with its world premiere taking place in Amsterdam’s De Nieuwe Kerk from 18 April to 8 August.

This prestigious contest attracts thousands of submissions from over 100 countries, highlighting the most compelling visual stories of the past year.

The 2024 winner is titled The Two Walls by Venezuelan photographer Alejandro Cegarra, capturing a powerful moment published by The New York Times/Bloomberg. Among the other standout images is Saving the Monarchs by Jaime Rojo, shot for National Geographic.

The exhibition will travel to over 60 cities worldwide, including London, Berlin, Vienna, Budapest, Mexico City, Rio de Janeiro, Montreal, Jakarta, Sydney and Rome.

Winners receive cash prizes of up to €11,000, an invitation to the Winners’ Programme in Amsterdam from 14-17 May, and top-tier Fujifilm GFX cameras and lenses.

This year also marks the 70th anniversary of World Press Photo, with special events and exhibitions set to be announced soon.

Key dates:

27 March 2025 – World Press Photo winners from all regions will be announced online.

17 April 2025 – World Press Photo of the Year (with two runners up) is announced online and at a live event in Amsterdam’s De Nieuwe Kerk, with the flagship exhibition opening to the public the following day.
