Renowned action sports photographer Lorenz Holder has teamed up with WhiteWall for a new campaign focusing on the mesmerising effects of infrared photography

As a WhiteWall Ambassador, Holder brings his expertise to highlight the captivating and surreal qualities of infrared imagery.

Infrared photography, a technique that captures light waves beyond the visible spectrum, reveals a world unseen by the human eye. By employing specialised filters and camera modifications, Holder creates stunning and unique visual effects. This method results in extraordinary contrasts and textures, with photosynthesising plants appearing in striking red tones.

During a recent shoot in Cologne, Holder utilised infrared technology to produce a series of exclusive images for WhiteWall. These photographs, presented as ultraHD prints behind acrylic glass, showcase the vivid red hues and sharp details characteristic of infrared photography.

“Infrared allows us to capture scenes in a way that our eyes can’t perceive, giving everyday scenes a dreamlike quality,” Holder explains. He praises the intense colours and clarity that the ultraHD prints achieve, describing them as “simply wow.”

The campaign also features these infrared images framed in vibrant, coloured frames by WhiteWall. Options include neon pop art frames in red and purple, designed by Studio Besau-Marguerre, which complement the infrared motifs perfectly.

For those who prefer a more understated presentation, WhiteWall offers simpler frames like the ArtBox, known for its minimalist design and artistic display.

Holder lauds WhiteWall’s commitment to quality and service, which he deems essential for his work. He highlights the importance of precise colour matching, made possible by downloading ICC profiles from WhiteWall’s website for accurate soft proofing.

“It’s crucial that the printed images match what I see on my computer,” Holder says, emphasising the reliability of WhiteWall as a partner.

At 44, Lorenz Holder, based in Freising near Munich, has gained international acclaim for his dynamic photography that fuses architecture, landscape, and sports into unique compositions. His collaboration with WhiteWall marks a significant exploration into the creative possibilities of infrared photography.
