The Association of Photographers (AOP) is working in tandem with Fujifilm UK on an event that will inspire the next generation of photographers
The event, taking place at the FUJIFILM House of Photography in London on Thursday 29 September, will explore the art of breaking into professional photography. Attendees will hear from a panel of three winners from the 37th AOP Photography Awards, delivering inspiring speeches.
On the panel will be Rocio Chacon, a professional photographer and dancer by trade. Winner of the ‘Gold Fashion’ category and the AOP Discovery Award, Rocio captures polarities in her work, seeking aspects in her human and non-human subjects that are often overlooked. Her works have appeared in galleries, editorial publications and independent company works over the years.
Charlie Clift, whose work has been published for BAFTA, Action for children and Coca-Cola will also be appearing. Charlie is constantly looking for new ways to tell a story through his photographs, an approach which earned him the silver award in the Portrait category of the AOP awards.
Award-winning photographer, Sujata Setia will complete the panel, bringing a focus to how art can advocate powerful change within society. Sujata enjoys challenging our concept of ‘normal’ with her art.
Theo Georghiades, General Manager of Imaging Solutions at Fujifilm UK commented: “Breaking through the glass ceiling into the world of professional photography can be both challenging and daunting for those starting out in the profession. To bring together those who have done it so successfully to impart their advice is something that we are honoured to be hosting alongside the Association of Photographers.”
Isabelle Doran, CEO at Association of Photography commented: “Hosting events such as these helps those breaking into the industry gain invaluable advice and support from those who are at the cutting edge of it. We aim to inspire a new generation of award-winning professionals to showcase their art for a variety of future brands and causes. We encourage any enthusiastic photographer to come along and experience what Rocio, Charlie and Sujata have to say about creating a career in photography.”
The event is at 7:00pm BST, Tues 29 Sept, FUJIFILM House of Photography, 8-9 Long Acre, London, WC2E 9LH.
