Nikon announces Nikkor Z 28mm f/2.8

Posted on Nov 19, 2021

The Nikkor Z 28mm f/2.8 is the smallest and lightest full-frame Z series prime lens yet

The latest lens from Nikon offers a wide angle of view that gives photographers great versatility – enabling you to shoot anything from street photography to landscapes and situational portraits.

The lens boasts a short 0.19m minimum focus distance that allows you to get really close to your subject for dramatic close-ups. It has a wide Z mount and rounded f/2.8 aperture that copes well in low-light environments and allows users to create eye-catching images with soft bokeh backgrounds. Images captured with this lens are rich in colour and contrast thanks to its bright f/2.8 aperture. Users can also benefit from a 42mm angle of view when they pair this lens with a DX-format Nikon Z camera.

As well as being a powerful little lens for stills, the Nikkor Z 28mm also captures crisp video footage with minimal focus breathing. The lens incorporates an ultra-quiet stepping motor which delivers fast, silent AF and images that are sharply focused – helped by the additional light supplied by the Z mount. Its control ring is ultra-silent and allows you to set control focus, aperture, exposure compensation, or ISO with ease.

The Nikkor Z 28mm f/2.8 is approximately 43mm in length and weighs around 155g, making it a highly portable addition to your photography kit. Its compact size and light-weight design make it perfect for shooting on the go, with the option to shoot handheld or with a gimbal. Its dust- and water-proof design also keeps it safe from less than ideal weather conditions.

Retailing at £249, the Nikkor Z 28mm f/2.8 will be available from Winter 2021.
