Sony World Photography Awards releases photos for 2020 competition

A number of photos from hopefuls who have entered the 2020 Sony World Photography Awards have been revealed, alongside the competition’s jurors.
Now in its 13th year, the Sony World Photography Awards 2020 offers photographers of all levels from around the world to submit their best work from the past 12 months.
The 2020 jury includes a diverse range of industry experts across the museum, gallery, art fair and media sectors. The professional jury will be chaired for the third consecutive year by picture editor, curator and consultant Mike Trow, who will also curate the awards’ exhibition.

The contest is split into three competitions, one for professionals, an open contest and one for youths aged 12 to 19.
The professional competition will be assessed by Claudi Carreras Guillén, independent curator, editor and cultural manager; Touria El Glaoui, founding director of 1-54 Contemporary African Art Fair; Katie Hollander, director of Annenberg Space for Photography; Gwen Lee, director, Singapore International Photography Festival and Brent Lewis, photo editor, The New York Times and co-founder of Diversify Photo.
The open and youth competitions will be chaired by Gisela Kayser, managing director and artistic director of Freundeskreis Willy-Brandt-Haus eV, Berlin. Tim Clark, curator, writer and editor-in-chief of 1000 Words completes the 2020 jury as the chair of the Student competition.

It’s free to enter the Sony World Photography Awards and the deadlines are:
- Youth competition: last day of each month between now and December
- Student competition: 29 November
- Open competition/National awards: 7 January 2020
- Professional competition: 14 January 2020
