This launch introduces the eighth generation of Leica’s D-Lux premium compact camera series, which first debuted in 2003.
The latest addition, the Leica D-Lux 8, introduces several enhancements that aim to cater for both new and experienced photographers.
Key features of the Leica D-Lux 8
The Leica D-Lux 8 is equipped with a 4/3” CMOS sensor providing 21MP (17MP effective) resolution.
The camera features the Leica DC Vario-Summilux 10.9–34 f/1.7–2.8 ASPH lens, which offers a versatile full-frame equivalent of 24-75mm.
The D-Lux 8 connects wirelessly with the Leica FOTOS app to facilitate photo transfer and sharing. It is also the first in the D-Lux series to support DNG format.
Improved user experience
Leica says it has focused on enhancing user comfort with simplified controls and an updated control layout.
The user interface is inspired by the Leica Q series and is designed to be more intuitive, to help make the Leica D-Lux 8 accessible to photographers of all levels.
An included flash further expands the camera’s functionality, making it suitable for various lighting conditions.
New accessories
Aside from the shoe-mount flash supplied with the D-Lux 8 there are number of new accessories available separately. These include hand grips, carrying straps, wrist straps, leather protectors and bags.
Availability and pricing
The Leica D-Lux 8 will be available in store and online from 2nd July 2024 with a recommended retail price of £1,450.
