As photographers, we’re constantly looking at ways to ensure our work stands out. Much of that is inevitably down to how we present it. Here, the photo finishing experts at well-established professional lab WhiteWall can help.
Photo prints behind acrylic glass are one of its most popular products – and it’s easy to see why! Giving an immediate visual lift and enhancing all the genres of photography, photo prints which have been laminated behind acrylic glass have, to date, been mainly the preserve of galleries or exhibitions.
However, the process has now established itself in the photo finishing industry. WhiteWall offers its customers a wide range of options – including framed or unframed, an ultraHD version, a choice of matte or glossy acrylic glass, plus a selection of matching papers. Most of these options are available in custom formats, which go up to 290x180cm, ensuring the possibility of creating an impressive wall mural – or at the very least the perfect fit for any available space.
Whether you’re choosing to showcase prints in colour or black & white behind acrylic glass, the final look can be complemented and completed with the addition of a wide range of framing options. These are fulfilled by WhiteWall’s in-house factory, making it a one-stop shop for photographer customers.
And if you want to present your work on an even larger scale still, the WhiteWall Art Service can offer advice on its WhiteWall Masterprint. This is a seamlessly printed and laminated pigment print available up to a giant 500x240cm in size.
Advantage WhiteWall
Stability, durability and 100% print flatness are just some advantages of laminating a photograph on Alu-Dibond and subsequently sealing it behind 2mm thick acrylic glass. The latter helps make the photos appear much more brilliant, with the increased contrast also lending imagery a three-dimensional depth, further enhanced if choosing an increased thickness of 4 or 6mm.
Landscape photography in particular, such as the examples by nature photographer Iurie Belegurschi shown here, can be visually amplified in this way. For a more subtle effect, opt for matte acrylic glass. Or, if you have a brilliant image which deserves to stand out, then going for glossy acrylic glass is WhiteWall’s advice.
Of course, framing lends any image the finishing touch. Here, it can advise on the best match for whichever acrylic finish you’re choosing. Almost anything can be done but, by way of example, reduced frame products such as the WhiteWall Slimline frame harmonise well with the restrained appearance of matte acrylic glass. As glossy acrylic frames command more attention, these can in turn be enhanced by a more striking frame.
When mounting your work on the wall – and why wouldn’t you, as photo prints laminated behind acrylic glass always cut a fine figure when hung – the photo finisher has simplified the process with its easy WhiteWall mounting system, which further increases stability.
Also consider that the desired location of where you choose to hang your image has a bearing on the choice of lamination, as does available space and the incidence of light. Note too that its acrylic glass finishes can be combined with other products such as passe-partout frames or laminated fine art prints to truly deliver a knock-out gallery effect in our own home.
