Datacolor launches LightColor smartphone light meter

Datacolor has announced the launch of the Datacolor LightColor Meter, a device designed to provide real-time light and colour data to smartphones

Unlike traditional light meters, the Datacolor LightColor Meter measures both light intensity and colour temperature, streaming data via Bluetooth to the LightColor Meter app.

This feature allows users to monitor lighting conditions efficiently in various environments, including studios and outdoor settings. The meter supports continuous, strobe and mixed lighting scenarios.

In addition to standard exposure readings, the meter measures Duv (green-magenta shift) to help adjust for colour inconsistencies in LED, fluorescent and natural lighting.

A built-in filter library from Profoto, LEE and Rosco aids in selecting suitable colour gels. The device includes up to 15 custom alarms to notify users of changes in light intensity or colour temperature.

The Datacolor LightColor Meter also offers high-speed sync (HSS) flash measurements, multiple metering points and hands-free operation via a magnetic mount and ¼”-20 thread. It measures illuminance from 1 to 1,000,000 lux and covers a colour temperature range of 1,600K to 20,000K.

The Datacolor LightColor Meter will be available at a price of £379.99. Find out more at the website.
