Canon introduces RF 16-28mm F2.8 IS STM

Canon has announced the release of the RF 16-28mm F2.8 IS STM ultra-wide zoom lens

The RF 16-28mm F2.8 IS STM offers a 16-28mm focal range and a constant f/2.8 aperture, which Canon tells us aims to provide flexibility for shooting landscapes, interiors and travel scenes.

Key features include 5.5 stops of optical image stabilisation, which increases to 8 stops when paired with EOS R-series cameras equipped with in-body stabilisation.

With a retracted length of 91mm and a weight of 445g, the lens is compact enough to suit travel photographers or those seeking to minimise gear bulk.

Its optical design includes two aspheric and four UD lens elements, enhanced by Canon’s Super Spectra coating, which the company claims improves sharpness and reduces aberrations. Canon also notes its 9-blade circular aperture, which it says produces smooth bokeh.

Canon also highlights the durability of the RF 16-28mm F2.8 IS STM, stating it includes weather-resistant construction to handle challenging conditions.

The RF 16-28mm F2.8 IS STM will be priced at £1,249.99. Visit the website for more information.
