The Association of Photographers has introduced the Martin Evening Digital Retouching Excellence Award
The Association of Photographers (AOP), as part of its 38th Photography Awards, will honour the late Martin Evening. The Martin Evening Digital Retouching Excellence Award will recognise “outstanding work in digital retouching and post-production”, spanning both photographic stills and short films.
Martin, who passed away in December 2022, was an influential photographer, author and teacher. As an early adopter of Photoshop, he pioneered the digital retouching process – and was inducted into the Photoshop Hall of Fame in 2008. Acting as a soundboard for Adobe, he helped advance the software, shaping it into the popular tool it is today. Martin was also a celebrated portrait, beauty and commercial photographer and a long-standing AOP member.
Nominations for the Martin Evening Digital Retouching Excellence Award close on 14 April, with submissions due 12 May and finalists announced after 12 June. Competition judges include Tim Flach, Richard Seymour, Holly Palmer-Davison and James Digby Jones. To learn more, visit aopawards.com.
