Aberdeen photography competition set to inspire creativity this winter
A new photography competition in Aberdeen aims to encourage residents to capture moments of light and beauty during the city’s darker winter months
The contest, themed ‘Light in the Dark,’ is a collaboration between Aberdeen Arts Centre and North East Scotland College (NESCol).
The competition is divided into two categories: 18+ and 17 & Under. The top three entries in each category will be displayed in an exhibition at Aberdeen Arts Centre, and first-place winners will also receive family tickets to the 2025 pantomime, Robin Hood.
Judged by local expertise
Steve Smith, a photography lecturer at NESCol, will serve as the competition’s judge. Smith described the theme as a way to highlight the beauty and moments of joy that can be found even during the winter months.
Promoting creativity
The competition is part of Aberdeen Arts Centre’s broader Creative Learning programme, which provides opportunities for community participation in various artistic disciplines. The initiative is designed to encourage creativity and engagement within the local community.
How to enter
Entries can be submitted via email to [email protected] until 11:59 PM on February 2, 2025. Full competition details, including terms and conditions, are available on the Aberdeen Arts Centre website.
