2024 RPS Awards winners announced

The Royal Photographic Society (RPS) has announced the winners of the 2024 RPS Awards, which is celebrating its 146th year

The RPS Awards is celebrating its 146th year as the longest-running and most esteemed recognition in photography.

This year’s awards has introduced new categories to cover both emerging and established photographers working across diverse genres, including photojournalism, editorial, fashion and youth-orientated photography.

Palestinian freelance photojournalist Samar Abu Elouf was honoured with the RPS Award for Photojournalism. Her impactful work, which spans coverage of gender issues, war and humanitarian crises, has garnered international attention from major outlets like Reuters and The New York Times.

The RPS Award for Editorial or Documentary Photography went to Darcy Padilla, a professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison known for her compelling, long-term narrative projects on socio-economic themes.

British-Ghanaian artist Campbell Addy received the RPS Award for Fashion, Advertising and Commercial Photography. His vibrant and culturally rich imagery has been widely recognised, including in his acclaimed monograph Feeling Seen.

Meanwhile, Carolyn Mendelsohn won the RPS Award for Photography with Young People, celebrated for her work in co-created portraits that empower young voices.
