DxO PhotoLab 8 introduces new features

Posted on Sep 17, 2024

DxO Labs has released DxO PhotoLab 8, the latest iteration of its Raw image editing software, offering a range of new features and enhancements

A key update in this version is the introduction of DeepPRIME XD2s, the second generation of its renowned noise reduction and detail enhancement engine.

DxO claims this technology allows users to achieve higher image quality, even at elevated ISO settings. It also introduces a live preview magnifier to offer real-time feedback on noise reduction and other adjustments, with zoom levels up to 1600%.

DxO PhotoLab 8 also includes a new Hue Mask feature, designed for more precise local adjustments by targeting specific colours within an image.

The software’s Tone Curve tool has also been updated, adding a Luma channel that allows users to adjust brightness without affecting colour, along with on-image controls for more intuitive editing.

Further refinements include improved lens softness correction, which aims to enhance sharpness without introducing fringing. DxO continues to use its Optics Modules, which are based on detailed lens testing, to provide tailored adjustments for different lenses.

Workflow improvements have also been made, in addition to faster image browsing and loading, there is a new Compare Mode and Correction Rollover feature designed to streamline the editing process.
