Posted on Jul 2, 2024

Leica has officially released the specifications for the Leica D-Lux 8 compact camera, which is now on sale

Sensor & lens

The Leica D-Lux 8 features a Micro Four Thirds CMOS sensor with a resolution of 21 MP (17 MP effective). Leica says this sensor is powerful enough to deliver even in low-light conditions, making it suitable for a variety of shooting scenarios. It delivers stills at 4928 x 3288 pixels and video at 4K/30p or Full HD/60p.

This sensor combines with a Leica DC Vario-Summilux 10.9-34 mm f/1.7-2.8 ASPH zoom lens, equivalent to 24-75 mm in 35mm format.

The camera uses a contrast detection AF system with a close-focusing distance of 50cm in standard mode, but this reduces to 3cm in macro mode with the lens set to 24mm.

A hot-shoe flash is included for additional lighting options.

The D-Lux 8 features a 2.4-megapixel, 60fps OLED electronic viewfinder. Additionally, there is a three-inch 1.8m dot LCD touchscreen.
